Luc is a man with an intellectual disability who lives in Thetford Mines. For the past year and a half, he has been working at Kaffé’yé on Saturdays.
Kaffé’yé is a sheltered work program that helps members to find employment. During the week, he has a job in a retirement home where he takes care of maintenance and cleaning tasks.
In addition to his work, Luc sits on the board of directors of the Fondation Renaissance.
Luc has been living alone in a three-and-a-half-bedroom apartment for around five years, where he particularly cherishes his autonomy. He lives in a “slightly supervised” apartment built by the Fondation Renaissance, with 16 similar apartments. Assistance staff usually come in on Saturdays to help with shopping, housework and fridge checks, after giving him advance notice by telephone.
Luc is very proud of his independence and his home.
